No doubt, nowadays technology is developed and is still developing. It makes our lives convenient and efficient. It changes everything easier.
Long Long years ago, we did not have much technology. Agriculture, industry and services are manual. Our lives were also inconvenient. We did not have airplanes, cars and trains, we did not have mobile phones, computers,and we did not have appliances. We did not have technology.
Things changed now. Is technology what we have making us stupid? I guess so. We can not calculate by ourselves, if we do not have a calculator. We will get lost, if we do not have navigation. I remembered, onetime I drove to Milwaukee with my friends. After parking, we walked 15 minutes with navigation to have dinner. When we returned, he wanted to navigate again. I told him no need, we could went back by ourselves. But he insisted, or he would get lost, he said.
Actually, technology is good, but it makes us lazier and lazier. Lazy makes us stupid. If we do not depend technology so much, we will be smarter.
Lu, good job addressing both sides of the situation. I think the difficulty we face is keeping the balance between relying too much on technology (like your friend), yet still utilizing it effectively to make life more convenient and efficient, as you state.

DeleteThis is a difficult subject. For me we have two sides of technology, the bad and the good. But in the end doesn't matter which side they are, the man itself who agree to use the technology. So, it is the mans fault.
