Change

“When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.
But it, too, seemed immovable.
As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.
And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed myself first, then by example I would have changed my family.
From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world.”
These famous words engraved on a gravestone of Westminster Cathedral in the England. I cannot agree with it more. In fact, I do not think we can change the world by any one person, and super hero only appeared in the movie. We cannot change the world, but we can change ourselves.
We can get up early instead of up late; we can change idleness to work hard; we can save more energy; we can be more enthusiastic; we can be more polite, we can be more positive and sanguine. If all of us can do, we will influence each other positively. We can make our planet better.
In China, we have similar understanding. Many years ago, our ancestors came up with “格物、致知、诚意、正心、修身、齐家、治国、平天下”. It means changing the world, obtaining much knowledge is the first step, and know many things well, then be honest, be upright, then make the whole family better, help the country to develop, finally change the world.

In conclusion, change everyone self is the key to change the world.

  1. I agree with you Lu. We need first to change ourselves. We need always to try to do the best, always! It is not question about win or lose, is about you putting your best effort. Other thing too is treat the people in the way you want to be treated. Some small things like this, things that seems that only change you, but in the end they change the people around you and if you are lucky could change the world. :)
